PENSACOLA, Fla. – The newly named No. 13 Argos took two games from visiting Shawnee State on Wednesday afternoon, winning 5-1 in the first game, and 9-8 in the second. Jillian Lafrance (Calgary, Alberta/Charleston Southern) took home both victories in the circle, and collected five RBI on the day. West Florida improves to 15-2 with the wins, while Lafrance improves to 13-2. Karri Bisbee (Panama City, Fla./Gulf Coast CC) went 3-for-4 on the day, with three runs and four stolen bases. [+]
UWF Women's Golf Slips Two Spots to No. 21 in the Nation
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The second Golf World/NGCA Division II Coaches’ Poll of the spring season was released Wednesday afternoon, pegging West Florida women’s golf No. 21 in the nation, a two spot drop from their No. 19 ranking in the preseason poll. The Argonauts are two tournaments into their season, claiming a win at the Ann Rhoads Classic February 21-22 before a tie for ninth place finish at Division I South Alabama’s Lady Jaguar Invitational March 2-3. UWF Softball Leaps to No. 13 in NFCA Poll
STARKVILLE, Miss. – After compiling a 13-2 record so far, the Argonauts jumped 12 spots in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll as it was announced Wednesday. The Argos began the season unranked and has made the move to No. 13 in just two weeks on the strength of a nine-game win streak. No. 13 marks the highest West Florida has been ranked since the 2005 season in which they were as a high as No. 3. [+]
West Florida Surges Late to Sweep Delta Devils in Doubleheader
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida baseball team picked up two wins against NCAA Division I opponent Mississippi Valley State as they swept them in a doubleheader 6-2 and 7-6 Wednesday night at Jim Spooner Field. In game one the Argos took their 2-1 lead from yesterday’s rain halted contest and tacked on three in the seventh, eventually winning 6-2. In the nightcap the Argos battled back from an early 3-1 deficit to go on and win a close one, 7-6. [+]
