Dobson Makes History at Walt Disney World Marathon

Lake Buena Vista, FL: - West Florida men's cross country coach Matthew Dobson made history Sunday at the Walt Disney World Marathon. Dobson became the first American to win the race in a time of 2:27:58, nearly two and a half minutes ahead of the second place finisher. It was Dobson's first Walt Disney World Marathon victory after competing in four previous Disney Marathons. The Jay, Fla. native earned his fourth career marathon victory.

This was not the first time Dobson has entered the winner's circle on Disney property. Dobson also finished first on Oct. 12, 2003 when he beat out nearly 2,000 runners in the Disney 10K Classic.
