UWF Names Dave Scott Athletic Director
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Dave Scott, currently serving as the Interim Athletic Director at the University of West Florida, was chosen to continue in his role as full-time Athletic Director, it was announced by UWF Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Deborah Ford at the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet at Scenic Hills Country Club on Friday night.
Scott took on the role of Interim Athletic Director on May 21, 2008, serving in dual roles along with his duties as Director of Recreation.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to work with some great coaches and staff,” Scott said following the Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday. “I’m looking forward to building on the academic and athletic success that we’ve enjoyed in the past and continuing them in the future.”
“It’s also an opportunity to work with some great student-athletes that will be great contributors to our community in the future,” he continued. “We are building champions for life, and I’m looking forward to what the future will bring.”
In Scott’s first full semester as Athletic Director in the fall of 2008, UWF claimed Gulf South Conference championships in men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball, highlighted by an NCAA Division II runner-up finish by the women’s soccer team.
Scott has been employed by UWF since 1990, serving in a variety of roles in both Athletics and Recreation. From 1994-2002, he was in charge of marketing and promotions for Athletics. He was also an integral part of the planning committee for the 2007 Division II Fall Sports Festival hosted in Pensacola by UWF.
