UWF Men's Soccer Final Season Game Notes
photo courtesy of jimhoguephotos.comPENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida men’s soccer team finished their season by clinching their fourth striaght Gulf South Conference Championship. They end as GSC Champions for the seventh time in program history with an overrall record of 11-6-2 and 4-0-1 mark in conference play.
The Argos were led freshman forward Stephen Munoz who tallied nine goals and six assists for 24 points. Also helping in the offensive attack this season were senior Jay Mainville and sophomore Paul Willoughby who finished with eight goals and four assists a piece this season.
Sophomore Richard Dixon was selected as the GSC Player of the Year, the program’s first such award in over 10 years. Dixon, a 2008 second team selection, will be joined on this season’s GSC First Team with Nikola Kljaic, Trey Kramer and Paul Willoughby. Being named to the GSC Second Team was senior forward Jay Mainville and junior midfielder Matt Tanner, their first career All-GSC honors.
In the Argos GSC Tournament run, Frank Cope led the way with his aggressive attack in matches against Ouachita Baptist and Alabama-Huntsville. Cope was named as the GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Tournament Team with Matt Tanner and Stephen Munoz. COMPLETE GAME NOTES.
