PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida men’s and women’s cross country teams are teaming up with the Pensacola Runners Association to host a 5k cross country race on the UWF campus on Saturday, December 5. The race is set for an 8:00 a.m. start at the multipurpose field and will take place almost entirely on the UWF cross country trails.
The race is one of the PRA’s regularly scheduled events and will feature numerous awards, including individual and team awards. The Argonauts will clear, prepare, and mark the course for the event, as well as provide the timing and results. UWF students and PRA members may race at a cost of only $12. The Pensacola Runners Association will donate the profits from the race to the UWF cross country program. The race is open to any and all interested runners and walkers.
“This is a great way for our teams to help embrace the running community in the Pensacola area,” said Head Coach John Bergen. “The PRA has been very supportive of our program, and this event should be a lot of fun and an enjoyable running experience for those who participate.”
The 3.1 mile course will begin in the multipurpose field located behind parking lot Z near Martin Hall. Race registration can be sent to either the PRA or delivered to the UWF Athletic Department in building 54 on campus. Packet pickup and Friday night registration will be at the Running Wild store on East Cervantes St. from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Registration will also be available race day at the multipurpose fields from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. Post race awards will be presented at 9:00 a.m. along with refreshments for all participants. There will be awards for three male and female finishers in each age group, along with male and female team awards.
