UWF Ranks 22nd in Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio – West Florida ranks 22nd in the latest installment of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Division II fall standings as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on Thursday. The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women’s and seven men’s.
The Argonauts received points for advancing to the NCAA postseason in women’s soccer and volleyball. The UWF women’s soccer team advanced to the national semifinals, falling to Cal State Dominguez Hills in penalty kicks 4-1 after a 1-1 tie in double overtime. The Argos volleyball team advanced to the second round of the regional tournament and fell to Saint Leo in three sets after a first round win against Lynn.
Grand Valley State stands atop the rankings after a national championship in women’s soccer, a second place finish in women’s cross country, and fifth place finish in men’s cross country, and an NCAA berth in volleyball. The University of Tampa is the top team from the South Region at sixth place thanks to strong finishes in women’s cross country, men’s soccer, and volleyball. Harding ranks second among Gulf South Conference schools at 40th place after top 20 finishes in men’s and women’s cross country.
