West Florida Earns Top-25 Ranking in Learfield Cup Fall Standings
Argonaut Fall Teams Ranked Highest Among GSC Schools
WESTLAKE, Ohio – The University of West Florida athletic department is ranked 20th in the Division II Learfield Sports’ Directors Cup fall standings. Through the completion of six NCAA Division II national championships, UWF is the highest-ranked Gulf South Conference institution.
West Florida has earned 139 points through the completion of the NCAA’s fall seasons. The Argonauts advanced to the Round of 32 in both the men’s soccer and women’s soccer NCAA Championship tournaments, and they advanced to the Round of 16 in women’s volleyball.
Grand Valley State University, out of Michigan, tops the fall standings with 358 points. The Lakers won Division II National Championships in women’s cross country and women’s soccer. Shippensburg University (Pa.), the University of Tampa (Fla.), Chico State (Calif.) and Rollins College (Fla.) round out the top five.
West Florida is ranked 51 spots ahead of the University of North Alabama, the next-highest GSC school on the list. Harding University and the University of Alabama-Huntsville also represent the GSC in the top 100.
West Florida won GSC Championships in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball during the fall season while earning top-five results in both men’s and women’s cross country.
