Activities Welcome Students Back to Campus at UWF

Welcome Week and Beyond is an annual tradition and the official kick-off of the academic school year at the University of West Florida. The students will be welcomed back to campus with activities starting on Wednesday, August 17, including a pep rally on Thursday, August 18 at the UWF Field House at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 17
– Target After Hours Shopping Event at 10:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.
Buses will run from Pace, Argo, and Martin residence halls to the Nine Mile Road Target store for a shopping event exclusive to UWF students. There will be in store promotions, contests, music, food and prizes as the local Target store opens its doors and welcomes UWF's new and returning students. Thursday, Aug. 18
– Student Government Association (SGA)/Athletics T-shirt swap from 7 – 7:30 p.m.
Bring a t-shirt from another university to swap for the 2011 UWF T-shirt Swap shirt. Shirts traded in will be donated to charity. Located at the UWF Field House.
– Argo Arrival kick-off Pep Rally at 7:30 p.m.
Join President Judith Bense and SGA as they kick off a new year at UWF. Festivities include music, games, promotions, and prize drawings for an Apple iPad, an LCD TV, gift cards, and more.
– Late Nite at the Rec from 8– 10 p.m.
Visit the Health, Leisure and Sports (HLS) facility to see what Recreation and Sports Services has to offer. Free food, games and prizes will be available. Register for a chance to shoot a half court shot for tuition. For more info, contact Recreation and Sports Services at 850-474-2850.
Friday, Aug. 19
– Campus Activities Board (CAB) Wet n’ Wild at 7 p.m.
A fun filled event with a 70-foot water slide, a foam pit, and free food. For more info, contact the CAB office at 850-474-3186.
Saturday, Aug. 20
– Annual Welcome Week tubing trip at 9 a.m.
Join UWF Outdoor Adventures for the annual Welcome Week tubing trip down Coldwater River. The cost is $5, which includes transportation, tube, and coolers to float your lunch downriver. Sign up at the HLS Facility Customer Service Desk. For more information, visit uwf.edu/outdooradventure.
– “Mind Games” by hypnotist Paul Ramsay at 8 p.m.
An interactive and comical hypnotism show presented by the Department of Housing and Residence Life. This event will be held at the University Commons (UC) Auditorium. For more information, contact University Commons and Student Activities at 850-474-2406.
