GAME NOTES: No. 23 Florida Southern
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 2 West Florida baseball team is riding a six game winning streak after a 9-3 win over NAIA opponent Mobile Wednesday night. The Argos are 6-1 overall and hit the road to put their record to the test against their first ranked opponent this season, No. 23 Florida Southern. No. 23 Florida Southern:
The Argos will hit the road and be put to the test as they face their first ranked opponent this season, No. 23 Florida Southern. The Argos are 8-12 all time against the Mocs but last season West Florida swept Florida Southern at Jim Spooner Field.
The West Florida baseball team defeated NAIA opponent Mobile 9-3 on Wednesday night. The Argos offense busted out of the gate with a five run first inning.
Let The Streak Begin:
The Argos are on a six game winning streak after the sweep of Rollins College last weekend and the mid-week win over Mobile. Last season the Argos set a program record tallying a 22 game winning streak.
Florida Blue Call To the Pen:
The UWF bullpen showed its depth to this point in the season accounting for four of West Florida’s six wins. The Argos bullpen posts a 1.41 ERA and has held opponents to a .237 average.
Taye Larry has showed his speed early in the season leading the team with five stolen bases, second in the GSC, and has not be caught yet. Larry was second on the team last season with 26 stolen bases.
Tino Martinez Award Watch List:
Three Argonauts were named to the Tino Martinez Award watch list in Juniors Andrew Rodriguez, Max St. Hilaire and Jake Stephens. The Tino Martinez Award is presented to the most outstanding player in D-II college baseball.
