GAME NOTES: Valdosta State

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Argonauts are enjoying one of the best seasons in recent memory, sitting at 17-10, the school's first 17-win season since 2003-04. UWF will wrap up the regular season with a home game against Valdosta State this Saturday at 4 p.m.

REGIONAL RANKINGS
The University of West Florida finds itself at No. 6 in the NCAA South Regional rankings, staying put after taking down now No. 5 West Georgia. The Argos are on the cusp of taking part in the program’s first ever NCAA Regional with the top eight teams making the cut.

BEASLEY STEPPING UP
West Florida junior Terrance Beasley has stepped up as of late, earning a role in the starting line up in the Argo’s last four outings. The Tulane transfer put in a career high 18 points during the team’s six point win over North Alabama, going 9-of-11 from the field.

HEADING INTO THE GSC TOURNEY
The Argos now sit tied for third place in the conference standings with West Georgia and North Alabama at 7-6 in league play. The GSC Tournament will take place on March 2-4, with all eight teams qualifying.

PROGRAM WIN NUMBER 400
The Argos grabbed win number 400 in program history after defeating West Georgia at home last Thursday. UWF is now 401-343 all time in 27 seasons of play. The men’s basketball team was founded in 1967 but did cease play from 1976-1993.

FINISHING OVER .500
The Argos will finish the regular season over .500 for the first time since the 2008-09 season when the team went 13-12. The 17 wins so far this year is the first 17-win season for UWF since the 2003-04 campaign with a win against the Blazers matching the 2000-01 18-win season.

LAST TIME VS. VALDOSTA
The Argos took a 10-point, 73-63 win at Valdosta on Jan. 28, for their 14th win of the season. Four West Florida players scored in double-digits including Jamar Moore, who ended the night with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
