Argos Season Comes to a Close as NCAA Pairings are Announced
Second Best Season in West Florida History Comes to an End Sunday Night

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of West Florida men’s basketball team saw its best season in 15 years come to an end Sunday night, as the NCAA released the 2011-12 National Tournament pairings and the Argonauts didn’t hear their name called.
West Florida, who ends its season at 19-11, was ranked at No. 6 in the South Region before the Gulf South Conference Tournament this past weekend. The Argos took down regionally ranked No. 8 North Alabama before losing on a buzzer beater three to top seeded Alabama-Huntsville in a Saturday semifinal matchup.
Unranked Florida Southern won the Sunshine State Conference in an upset on Sunday afternoon, likely bumping the Argos from a spot in their first ever NCAA Tournament.
West Florida put together one of the top seasons in school history and was one win shy of tying the all time single season win mark. The Argos also won their first GSC Tournament game in 11 years as they took down the Lions on Friday.
