West Florida Men's Soccer Announces 2012 Schedule

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men’s soccer team has finalized its 2012 schedule, it was announced by head coach Bill Elliott. The Argonauts’ 2012 schedule will feature nine home games and seven road games.

West Florida will look to return to the top of the Gulf South Conference standings after ending it’s run for a sixth-consecutive conference crown in a loss to Christian Brothers in last years GSC Tournament Championship game. The Argos will get their first crack at redemption against the Buccaneers at home on Sept. 21.

The Argos will open up the season against three consecutive Sunshine State Conference teams, including a home match against the defending SSC Champions Rollins Tars on Sept. 7. UWF will open up the season against Saint Leo on Sept. 1 before playing host to the defending SSC Champs. UWF will wrap up the Sunshine State tour by hosting Florida Southern on Sept. 9.

Union (Tenn.) Univeristy will get their first shot at West Florida as a Gulf South Conference member in Jackson, Tenn. on Sept. 14. UWF will then enter the heart of conference play by playing host to Christian Brothers (Sept. 21) and Delta State (Sept. 23) before traveling to Huntsville, Ala. to face Alabama-Huntsville on Sept. 28.

UWF will travel to Rome, Ga. to face first-year Gulf South Conference member Shorter University on Sept. 30. West Florida will start the October month by playing host to West Alabama’s inaugural men’s soccer team during Homecoming Week on Oct. 5, before wrapping up the weekend at home against William Carey on Sunday, Oct. 7.

West Florida will then enter the second-half of the GSC schedule by playing host to Union (Tenn.) on Oct. 13. The Argos will then go on a three-game conference road trip to face West Alabama (Oct. 15), Christian Brothers (Oct. 19) and then Delta State on Oct. 21.

UWF will wrap up the conference schedule at home for a weekend series against Alabama Huntsville on Friday, Oct. 26 before facing Shorter on Sunday, Oct. 28.

West Florida will again host the 2012 GSC Men’s Soccer Championships this fall at Ashton Brosnaham Park (Nov. 2 – 4).
