BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Carlos Rodriguez (Cali, Colombia/Austin Peay) of the West Florida men’s golf team received yet another postseason honor, as he was named to the All-Nicklaus Team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  Student-athletes selected to the All-Nicklaus Team represent the top 24 collegiate golfers at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels, along with the NAIA and the NJCAA.

The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history’s greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf.  Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Awards in 1988.  Rodriguez’s selection to the All-Nicklaus Team is the first for a golfer from UWF.

Rodriquez finished the season with three tournament wins, tying a school record for victories in a single season.  His tournament wins came at The McLaughlin, the New Orleans Mardi Gras Invitational and the Argonaut Invitational.  He finished his career with four wins, which ranks him tied for second with Matthew Galloway and behind only Orjan Larsen in UWF history.

Rodriquez tallied a scoring average of 71.30 and 0.03 over par this year.  His season included 10 rounds in the 60s and 17 of par or better.  He had a remarkable start to the season, shooting rounds of 65-64-70 - 199 at The McLaughlin.  Rodriquez’s 64 in the second round of The McLaughlin matched former Argo Graham Spring as the single best round in school history.
