Renovations under way at UWF Sports Complex

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Renovations to the outdoor sports complex at the University of West Florida are under way, as Jim Spooner Field, the home of the UWF baseball team, is currently being worked on this week by Warner’s Athletic Construction.  The UWF Softball Complex is also be undergoing renovations.

Starting this week, WAC began renovating the entire infield area at Jim Spooner Field through laser grading.  The top grade process by WAC results in a smooth, bump-free surface and ideal playing conditions.  All of the turf in the infield area will be replaced with Tifway 419 Bermuda grass, and new crushed brick warning track material will be installed from foul pole to foul pole to improve drainage in those areas.

In a separate project at the end of August, the turf halo behind the home plate area will be replaced with a navy blue surface embedded with “Argonauts” in the UWF athletic font.

Similar improvements will be made at the UWF Softball Complex.  In addition, laser grading was completed at the UWF Soccer Complex earlier this summer, improving the quality and consistency of the playing surface.

Photos of the renovations will be posted throughout the process at www.GoArgos.com.
