UWF adds Elkins to athletic communications staff

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida athletic communications office has added Chris Elkins to its staff for the 2012-13 season.  Elkins comes to the athletic department with years of journalism experience after working with the UWF student newspaper, The Voyager, and the Pensacola News Journal.

Elkins was the sports editor at The Voyager in 2011-12, and he also completed an internship with the PNJ in the spring of 2012 covering local high school, college and community sports.  Prior to his internship, he was a stringer for the PNJ, covering high school football in the fall of 2011.  Elkins began working at The Voyager in the spring of 2011 as a staff writer covering UWF sports.

Elkins was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and earned his associate degree from Northwest Florida State College in May of 2008.  He graduated from UWF with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a specialization in Journalism in 2012.
