West Florida ranked No. 7 in national poll

Argos ranked No. 1 in latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II South Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The West Florida women’s soccer team went from unranked to No. 7 in the nation in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Women’s Poll. The jump was the biggest by any team in the latest rankings.

The Argonauts defeated then-ranked No. 16 Rollins 2-1, then-ranked No. 10 in the South Region Florida Southern 4-2 and unranked Mount Olive 2-0 last week to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Argos also rose from No. 6 in the South Region to No. 1.

Rollins was ranked No. 2 in the region last week but fell out of both rankings. Previous No. 1 in the South Region Saint Leo fell out of the rankings after losing three consecutive matches.

West Florida will take on unranked Union (Tenn.) on the road on Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. before traveling to No. 21 North Alabama on Sept. 16 to play at 2 p.m. UNA went from unranked to No. 21 in the nation after going 3-0 to start the season. The Lions also went from unranked to No. 3 in the South Region.
