West Florida men's golf announces 2012-13 schedule

PENSACOLA, Fla. – In keeping with its No. 11 national ranking, the West Florida men’s golf team will play a beefed up schedule full of the top competition in both Division I and II after head coach Steve Fell announced the 2012-13 slate Wednesday.

Three of UWF’s fall tournaments will feature predominately Division I fields, beginning with The McLaughlin in Farmingdale, N.Y., on Sept. 15 where the Argonauts are defending champions. They also close out the fall by defending their title at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 22 in Beallsville, Md., but not before traveling to 2012 national champion Nova Southeastern’s Guy Harvey Shark Invitational Oct. 8 in Palm Beach, Fla., and the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate hosted by NCAA finals runner-up Alabama Oct. 15 in Birmingham, Ala.

Action resumes in the spring on Feb. 11 when the Argonauts travel to Lakeland, Fla., for Florida Southern’s Matlock Collegiate Classic. They then head west to Las Vegas, Nev., and Missouri-St. Louis’ Las Vegas Desert Classic Mar. 3 followed by the Southeastern Collegiate Mar. 11 in Valdosta, Ga.

The Argonauts close out the regular season with two more tournaments, the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College & State in Eatonton, Ga., on Mar. 18 and Arkansas State’s Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark., Apr. 1, which will be their final Division I event.

The postseason begins at the Gulf South Conference Championships Apr. 22 in Tunica, Miss. West Florida finished second in the conference championship last year. For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
