Pagan gets back into running form this weekend in Mobile
Senior Eddie Pagan runs best race of the season; crosses finish line first for the Argos

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of West Florida men’s cross country team finished sixth overall at the Azalea City Classic this weekend in Mobile, Ala. Senior Eddie Pagan earned his first top-25 finish of the season leading the Argonauts in 22nd place (27:23.90). The three-time All-GSC First Team selection has been dealing with some lingering injuries over the past two weeks, and this finish should help his confidence as UWF enters the second half of the season.
"Eddie is starting to look strong again," head coach John Bergen said. "After a long comeback from surgery and a lingering injury, he ran really well today."
Sophomore Roman Kowalski finished second for the Argonauts in 31st place (27:47.80). Freshman Andre Bordelon bettered his previous 8,000-meter time by nearly 30 seconds in his second race of the season. Bordelon was the third UWF runner across the finish line for the Argonauts and finished 32nd overall (27:51.80). Freshman David Drumm finished 40th overall for the Argonauts.
"Roman and Andre ran very smart races today," Bergen said. "It was good to see them run so well in a very deep field with strong competition."
Sophomore Robert Abellera set a personal-best time on an 8,000-meter course and finished 44th overall. Abellera bettered his previous time by over 50 seconds. The Tallahassee, Fla. native was the fourth Argonaut across the finish line (28:28.30). Freshman Tyler Mitchell’s 47th-place finish rounded out the top-five finishers for UWF.
The Argonauts will play host to the Gulf Coast Stampede next weekend at the Escambia County Equestrian Center in Pensacola, Fla. This will be the only home meet of the season for UWF. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
