No. 11 West Florida tied for seventh at The McLaughlin
Rajendranath tied for 10th after first round

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The No. 11 West Florida men’s golf team is tied for seventh in a predominately Division I field following the shortened first day of The McLaughlin Saturday. Due to lack of daylight at the end of the second round two groups were unable to finish their rounds, delaying the finish of the round until tomorrow morning.
Talin Rajendranath (San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago/Naparima College) started his college career with a bang after carding an even-par 70 on the challenging Bethpage Red Course, where the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Open Championships were played. He is tied for 10th and is four strokes out of Johnson & Wales’ Jason Harris in first place.
The defending champions of the McLaughlin, the Argonauts shot 291 to tie with Binghamton and is just two strokes back of host St. John’s. Auburn leads the field after firing a one-under-par 279 and is six strokes ahead of second place Johnson & Wales (Fla.) and Harvard, who deadlocked with 285 each. Louisville (286) and Florida Southern (288) complete the top-five.
Juan Miguel Heredia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Jacksonville State) and Kyle Lucas (Johannesburg, South Africa/Western Texas College) finished one stroke off each other with rounds of 72 and 73, respectively, in their debuts as Argonauts. They are tied for 19th and 31st. Freshman Carlos Bown (Caracas, Venezuela/Minerva HS) shot a 76 to tie for 61st, and fellow freshman Connor Baldwin (Lakewood Ranch, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS) completed the UWF lineup tied for 69th with a 77.
The final two groups of the second round will conclude play tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. ET. The third round pairings will start at 7:30 a.m. ET off the first tee with West Florida teeing off beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
