UWF outshoots CBU 25-6 en route to third shutout this season

PENSACOLA, Fl. – The nationally-ranked No. 4 West Florida women’s soccer team continued to impress Friday night as the Argonauts shutout Christian Brothers in front of more than 400 fans at the UWF Soccer Complex.

The Argos (7-0, 3-0 GSC) outshot Christian Brothers (3-4, 1-3) 25-6 on their way to a 2-0 victory as the home team’s offense kept the ball on the Bucs’ side of the field for the majority of the game.

Transfer Chelsea Palmer (Plano, Texas/Darton) decided to take matters into her own hands at the 39:15 mark. The junior drove the ball past three defenders from 30 yards out then shot past the arms of a diving keeper to put UWF up 1-0 before the half.

Later in the game, she sent a well-placed corner kick to the foot of Alisa Festagallo (Fort Pierce, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy) who shot the ball into the net to put UWF up 2-0 with 67:43 on the clock.

UWF keeper Sarah Story (Hoover, Ala./Darton) made just three saves on the night, while the Argos kept CBU’s keeper Robyn Wade busy throughout the night. Wade made 10 saves and allowed both goals. Story recorded her third shutout of the season and improved her goals against average to 0.71 .

UWF will look to make more shots count against Delta State at home Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
