UWF women's cross country finishes third at Gulf Coast Stampede

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida played host to the 2012 Gulf Coast Stampede Saturday morning at the Escambia County Equestrian Center in Pensacola, Fla. The meet featured 198 student-athletes from 13 schools across the southeast region.

Junior Renea Porsch led the Argonauts on the day with a 12th-place finish on the 5,000-meter course (19:33.60), helping UWF to a third place finish out of 12 teams. Senior Karyssa Tourelle-Fallon and sophomore Kelley Bahn finished back-to-back in 20th and 21st place, respectively.

“It felt like it was a pretty strong race overall,” Porsch said. “I tried to keep the same pace throughout the race. We’ve all been kind of sore from practices but we know it will pay off in the end when we head into our conference meet.”

Sophomore Keyanna Dennis was the fourth Argonaut to cross the finish line on the day, as she finished 25th (20:30.70). Freshman Chelsea Humbert’s 30th-place finish rounded out the top-five scorers for the women’s team.
