UWF Athletics hires Patrick Ryan as academic coordinator

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to welcome Patrick Ryan as the department’s academic coordinator. Ryan, a UWF graduate and recent employee in career services, started in his new role on Sept. 24.
As academic coordinator, Ryan will provide academic support and advising to student-athletes. He will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and academic services for the athletic department.
Ryan comes to athletics after 2 1/2 years working in the UWF Career Services department. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from UWF in 2008 and his master’s in 2011.
He has been involved with the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE) and Florida Career Professionals Association (FCPA), and he was recognized as a SoACE Emerging Leader.
In his position with career services, Ryan worked with UWF students on life skills and career development, which includes career coaching, academic advising and career preparation. He implemented many new initiatives in the area of career planning, including using technology to reach online students and alumni at a distance.
He is involved with many groups on campus, and he is chair of the Student Affairs Symposium and the Etiquette Dinner Committee. He is also an experienced teacher with three years teaching the Academic Foundations seminar.
