Argos ninth after rain-shortened first day at Guy Harvey Invitational
Heredia leads team with 71 in first round

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The first day of the Guy Harvey Invitational was cut short on Monday, as the No. 14 West Florida men’s golf team and 13 other squads finished the first round but had the second round interrupted by rain. The Argonauts carded 302 in the tournament’s first round, shooting 14-over par and 23 strokes behind host and No. 2 ranked Nova Southeastern.
Sophomore Juan Miguel Heredia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Jacksonville State) led the Argos in the completed first round, carding a 1-over par 73 and ranking tied for 17th individually. Freshmen Talin Rajendranath (San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago/Naparima College) and Spencer Olson (Pensacola, Fla./Pace HS) were two strokes behind Heredia, shooting a 75 and completing the round in 28th place.
Sophomore Gary Buffington III (Tampa, Fla./Chamberlain HS) posted a 79 in first round of the season, and junior Kyle Lucas (Johannesburg, South Africa/Western Texas College) was one stroke back at 80.
Ian Facey of Nova Southeastern led the field, shooting a 6-under par 66 in the first round.
