Men's cross country team to compete at Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida cross country teams will split up this weekend and compete in separate states for the first time this season. The men’s cross country team will compete this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. for the Chili Peppers Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Agri Park. The women’s cross country team will head to Clinton, Miss. to compete in the Choctaw Open on Saturday on the Choctaw Trails course. The women will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the men will start at 9:45 a.m.

UWF Cross Country Teams Rise in Latest USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
The men’s and women’s cross country teams both jumped up two spots in the latest USTFCCCA regional poll. The women’s team now ranks third in the south region behind Sunshine State Conference opponents Tampa and Nova Southeastern. The men’s team now sits in fifth place in the south region behind Gulf South Conference rivals Alabama-Huntsville and West Alabama.

Sykes on the Rise
Senior Dominique Sykes has seen a strong improvement over the last two weeks after dealing with an injury this season. Sykes has crossed the finish line third for UWF in back-to-back meets and recorded his best 8,000-meter time this past weekend at the FSU meet.

Haden Leading Argonauts in 2012 as a Sophomore
Sophomore Cody Haden is having an incredible sophomore campaign, as the Navarre, Fla. native has crossed the finish line first for the Argonauts in all but one race he has competed in this fall.

Porsch Ready for the Final Push
Junior Renea Porsch has been solid this season for the Argonauts, as she has placed first for UWF in the last three meets. Porsch finished 47th overall and first for the Argonauts (24:01.40) last weekend at the FSU Invitational. The Choctaw Open will be the final meet before the Gulf South Conference meet on Oct. 12 in Hoover, Ala.

Tourelle-Fallon Looking to End Career on High Note
Senior Karyssa Tourelle-Fallon has finished second for UWF in back-to-back races and will look to continue her success this weekend in Clinton, Miss. at the Choctaw Open.
