UWF hits 20-win plateau with sweep of North Alabama
West Florida hit .431 as a team for all three sets

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Autumn Duyn had a match-high 15 kills to lead the No. 20 West Florida volleyball team to its third straight sweep of the weekend and a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 26-24) win over Gulf South Conference foe North Alabama Sunday. The Argonauts earned their 20th win of the season in the triumph to move to 20-7 overall, 13-1 GSC.
Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) hit at a scorching .609 clip to lead the Argonauts to a .431 attack percentage as a team. Haley Shackelford (Colorado Springs, Colo./Yavapai) also had double-digit kills with 15 at a .500 rate. K.C. Dobbins (Winston-Salem, N.C./Arkansas) and Sierra Hansen (Layton, Utah/Southern Idaho) had 22 and 16 assists, respectively, and Andraia Leja (Cary, Ill./Harper) had 14 digs.
Right out of the gate the Argonauts took control with a 10-2 spree in the first set and continued adding to it, only allowing the Lions to score consecutive points once on the way to a 25-13 victory. The second set was much narrower as UWF only held as much as a three point advantage until the 19-17 mark when it used kills by Shackelford and Jenny Bellairs (Osage, Iowa/Southeast Missouri State) and an attack error to jump out to a 22-17 lead. West Florida maintained to claim the frame 25-18.
Much was the same from the second to third sets, this time North Alabama managing to tie it up 23-23 with three straight Lion kills. After they were held off from match point once, the Argonauts benefitted from a Shackelford kill and an attack error to escape in three sets 26-24.
West Florida will conclude its regular season home slate next Saturday when it hosts West Alabama at 3 p.m. for Senior Night, where seniors Shackelford and Christine Bach will be honored. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
