KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The West Florida women’s soccer team climbed to No. 2 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tires Division II poll released Tuesday. UWF (17-1-0) finished the regular season in a three-way tie for the most wins in D-II.

After moving up from No. 4 to No. 3 last week, the Argos jumped previous No. 1 Minnesota-State Mankato (15-1-2) which fell to No. 3 after tying unranked Upper Iowa 1-1 last week.

Armstrong (15-1-1) moved up from No. 2 to No. 1. The Argos’ lone loss of the season was to Armstrong 2-1 at home on Oct. 8.

The Argos were the top team in the South Region for the eighth consecutive week.

No. 18 Southwestern Oklahoma State (17-0-1) finished the regular season with the best winning percentage at .972, while UWF tied No. 5 St. Edwards (17-1-0) for the second-best winning percentage at .944.

UWF will receive a first-round bye in the GSC Tournament which will start Thursday, Nov. 1 at Ashton Brosnaham Park. The Argos will play the winner of Alabama-Huntsville and West Alabama in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Brosnaham Park.

The Argos were also ranked No. 1 in the first two releases of the NCAA South Region rankings which are scheduled to be released on Wednesdays.

If UWF remains the No. 1 team in the NCAA South Region when the NCAA Selection Committee announces the tournament field in the NCAA selection show on Nov. 5, the Argos would receive a first-round bye and host a first-round match at the UWF Soccer Complex on Nov. 9. UWF would play the winner of that game at home on Nov. 11 in the second round.
