West Florida Sweeps Ouachita Baptist in the Second Round

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The West Florida Argonauts sweep the Ouachita Baptist tigers in the second round of the NCAA Division II South Regional at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Complex. Top seed West Florida dominated third seed Ouachita baptist winning all three doubles and two singles matches.

West Florida's Suzanna Calvacante and Paola Arevalo defeated Maja Kovacev and Danijela Bogdanovic in the first position doubles match 8-1. Jenny Paine and Rebecca Miller of Central Arkansas battled Tammy Kevey and Mandy Septoe, but it was not enough as the argonauts took the second position match with a score of 8-4. Ann Claire Beard and Tatiana Rodriguez closed out the doubles matches taking the third position match against Sanja Stankovic and Jenna Malloy resulting in a 8-1 win.

The Argonauts were equally dominating in singles as the third and fifth position matches were won before the top two position matches could be finished. Mandy Septoe dominated the third position match against Sanja Stankovic and took away the win with a score of 6-2, 6-1. In the fifth position match Ann Claire Beard battled Jenny Paine for the win of 6-1, 6-0. The Argonauts finished the day with an overall 5-0 win against Central Arkansas.

The Argonauts will advance to the National Tournament on May 10, 2006 in Kansas City.
