Racine Named Outstanding Employee of the Year

PENSACOLA, Fla. - For his accomplishments with the West Florida men's and women's tennis teams, and his work with youth tennis programs, head coach Derrick Racine was recently named the 2006 University of West Florida Outstanding Employee of the Year. The award was presented at the Annual Nautilus Excellence Awards on May 16.
Racine has been the head coach of the Argonauts men's and women's tennis teams since 1999. He has compiled a 200-40 record with the men's team, and a 187-54 women's record. He has led both squads to appearances in the national tournament every year since 1999. In 2004, Racine led the West Florida men's team to a national championship. The following year, the men's team repeated as national champions. The women's team has advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament four times since 1999, including this season.
Racine has also reached out to bring tennis programs to Pensacola. He implemented community service tennis clinics to benefit charities. Racine also started Junior Argos, a community tennis program for youth.
