PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will induct its 2014-15 hall of fame class on Friday, Jan. 23 at Scenic Hills Country Club at UWF. One of the five inductees will be profiled each day this week, and today's inductee is Paulius Jurkenas from the UWF men's tennis team.

PAULIUS JURKENAS HALL OF FAME PROFILEPaulius Jurkenas helped lead West Florida to its first two NCAA Division II men's tennis national championships in 2004 and 2005, and he was also a key player on three Gulf South Conference championship teams. He became only the seventh student-athlete in GSC men's tennis history to earn four consecutive all-conference first team selections. During his senior season, he was an ITA All-America selection in both singles and doubles as well as the South Region Senior Player of the Year. As a freshman he was the ITA South Region Rookie Player of the Year.
Jurkenas, a native of Siauliai, Lithuania, finished his career with 82 wins in singles and 86 in doubles. He was a GSC All-Academic Team selection twice, and he earned a spot on the GSC "Top Ten" after his senior season as one of the league's most accomplished student-athletes across all sports. After finishing his career, he was a first team selection to the GSC All-Decade Team.
