PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will induct its 2014-15 hall of fame class on Friday, Jan. 23 at Scenic Hills Country Club at UWF. One of the five inductees will be profiled each day this week, and today's inductee is Nicole Plikat from the UWF women's tennis team.
NICOLE PLIKAT HALL OF FAME PROFILE Nicole Plikat led the UWF women's tennis team to back-to-back runs at the NCAA Division II national tournament in 2004 and 2005. The Argos made it to the semifinals in 2004 and the quarterfinals in 2005. She earned three All-GSC first team selections, and she was named the 2005 ITA South Region Senior Player of the Year. Plikat was also a 2005 All-America selection in singles and doubles after earning All-America singles honors in 2004.
The Jevenstedt, Germany native finished her career with 45 singles victories and 58 doubles wins. Plikat was a GSC All-Academic Team selection as a senior, and she also was named to the GSC "Top Ten" as one of the league's most accomplished student-athletes across all sports. After finishing her career, she was a first team selection to the GSC All-Decade Team.
