PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida volleyball team continues its Gulf South Conference schedule this weekend in addition to hosting Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader Spring Hill at the UWF Field House this weekend.

AT THE SOUTH REGION CROSSOVER
- Following UWF's 2-1 weekend against tough Sunshine State Conference competition at the South Region Crossover, Corisha Smith and Rachel Neblett were each named to the all-tournament team.
- Smith had team highs with 41 kills and a .468 attack percentage, while adding four service aces and four blocks in the two-day tournament. The senior posted double-digit kill totals in each of the three games, with 15 in the sweep over Eckerd on Friday afternoon, during which she hit .636, 14 against Eckerd on Friday night, and 12 against Nova Southeastern on Saturday. She now has 10 matches with at least 11 kills on the year.
- Neblett had a career day against Eckerd and recorded career bests with 18 kills and 19.5 points. The junior hit .438 in the match and averaged 3.56 kills per set during the weekend with five blocks.
- West Florida hit a sterling .265 in three matches over the weekend and improved to 6-5 in non-conference play this year.
IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY
- UWF is 6-4 on Fridays this year, with a perfect 4-0 mark in GSC play. Monique StCyr has averaged 37.4 assists in those 10 matches and 10.4 assists per set, while also tallying 12 service aces.
- Current UWF points leader Kathryn Torre has recorded at least eight kills in seven of UWF's 10 Friday matches and she has 24 total blocks in those matches. In all, she has 91 kills in those matches, averaging 2.5 kills per set.
- Senior libero Tori Martella has done a ton of her defensive damage on Fridays, averaging an impressive 5.6 digs per set on Fridays.
STARTING HOT
- The Argonauts have won the first set of a match 18 times this season out of a possible 21 matches.
SO MUCH DEPTH
- West Florida and North Alabama stand as the only teams in the Gulf South Conference with three players averaging at least 3.0 points per set. Additionally, 11 UWF student-athletes are averaging at least a point per set, which tops the conference.

- Many great Americans were born on October 21, including Cy Young winner Zack Greinke (1983), first-round NFL Draft selection Joey Harrington (1978), actress Carrie Fisher (1956), baseball Hall of Famer Whitey Ford (1928) and legendary jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie (1917). Inventor of dynamite and founder of the Nobel Prize Alfred Nobel also has an October 21 birthday, as he was born in 1833 in the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway, as the nations were then known.
BACK ON TOP
- With a pair of wins, UWF moved back into first place in the GSC and stand at 9-1 in the GSC… The Argos are currently a half game up on Shorter, who owns a 9-2 GSC mark.
- Statistically, UWF is second in the GSC in conference hitting percentage at .278, while having the lowest opponent attack percentage at .135.
PACK IT PINK
- In addition to an impressive 3-0 win over No. 21 North Alabama, UWF's annual "Pack it Pink" event raised $3,766 for the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association.
- Since the event started 10 years ago, UWF has raised over $50,000 going towards breast cancer fundraisers.
VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
- UWF has played six top-25 opponents this year, and have had numerous standouts in those contests including Tori Martella, who owns a 5.52 digs per set average against those teams.
- Rachel Neblett leads the team with 0.95 blocks per set against ranked opponents, and is a primary player in helping UWF out block its opponents 2.07 to 1.80 against top-25 teams.
- Kathryn Torre is averaging 2.96 kills per set against top-25 teams to lead the Argonauts, while also owning a team-best .312 attack percentage in those matches.
- Monique StCyr is averaging 8.74 assists per set against nationally ranked teams.
LENDING A HELPING HAND

Monique StCyr is also within striking distance of her own record, needing 190 assists to set the program's career assists record... Last season StCyr posted 1,179 assists - the fourth highest total for a single season ever at UWF... StCyr jumped both Tricia Tirabassi and Melina Pereira in a 41-assist performance against UNA last Saturday.

AGAINST THE LEAGUE
- In conference action, UWF leads the GSC in nearly every major statistic, including digs per set (19.29), blocks per set (2.58), kills per set (16.19) and assists per set (15.16).
- Rachel Neblett is hitting a scorching .455 in conference action this year to lead the conference, while teammate Kathryn Torre is second in the conference with a .370 hitting percentage in GSC play.
- Tori Martella leads the GSC with 4.99 digs per set this season.

HEY, NOT BAD
- UWF is 68-7 all-time when playing its three opponents this weekend in West Georgia, West Alabama and Spring Hill.
SCOUTING WEST GEORGIA
- West Georgia currently rounds out the GSC standings, sitting at 1-11 in conference play with a 4-18 overall record.
- The Wolves currently ride a seven-match losing skid, and are still looking for their first road win of the year at 0-6 in road contests.
- UWG's hitting at a .118 success rate, while its opponents are converting at a .255 clip.
- UWF is 28-3 all-time against the Wolves, and have won six consecutive matches against the Wolves, including the 2013 GSC Tournament Final.
- Earlier this season, UWF took a 3-0 decision over UWG.
- Holly Mattmuller led the team with 12 kills, while Monique StCyr contributed a match-high 29 assists and Tori Martella added a match-high 12 digs.
SCOUTING WEST ALABAMA
- UWA sits at an even 6-6 in GSC play this year, and owns a 13-11 record in 2016.
- West Alabama is 2-4 on the road this year, and is most recently coming off a 3-1 win over Alabama Huntsville. The win for UWA snapped a four-match losing streak.
- West Alabama and its opponents are hitting at a nearly identical percentage, as UWA owns a .179 attack percentage in comparison to its opponents' .180.
- Briana Sandifer leads the Tigers and the GSC with 3.99 kills per set, while setter Callie Murphy is second in the GSC with 9.90 assists per set. Abby Ames is 10th in the conference with 3.57 digs per set.
- UWF is an impressive 26-4 all-time against West Alabama, and have won each of the last 15 matches against the Tigers.
- UWF swept the Tigers earlier this season on Sept. 17.
- Kourtney Pittaway posted a double-double against the Tigers, contributing 19 kills and 11 digs in the sweep.
SCOUTING SPRING HILL
- Spring Hill is an impressive 25-3 on the year, including a perfect 17-0 when facing Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams.
- UWF is a perfect 14-0 against the Badgers, and have won 42 of a possible 43 sets when play SHC.
- The Argos have not dropped a set to SHC since Oct. 13, 2001.
- Madison Seuzenaeu leads the team with 3.23 kills per set, while setter Anna Tietjens is contributing 9.46 assists per set.
- Defensively, Cassidi Sterrett leads the team with 3.94 digs per set.
