Katelyn Burkhart has earned Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week honors for the first time in her illustrious career.
She recorded four saves over the weekend and has not allowed a goal since October 15 against North Alabama.
Burkhart has allowed just seven goals in 1,238 minutes of action in the net this year, putting her career goals against average at 0.51 -- good for second-best in UWF and GSC history.
Burkhart currently ranks second in the GSC this year in goals against average (0.51) and fourth in save percentage (.821), and she has recorded a league-best eight shutouts.
The Pace, Florida, native also ranks in the top 5 in UWF history in goalkeeper wins (31; fourth) and shutouts (17; fifth). Those marks also get her in the GSC record books: She ranks 12th in career wins and is tied for 10th in with former Argonaut Klara Vrbova in shutouts.
Burkhart and the Argonauts face Christian Brothers in the first round of the GSC Tournament on Tuesday at 5 pm at the UWF Soccer Complex.
