Branch, Goodman Power UWF Past AUM 72-51

UWF used a dominating second quarter to extend its lead to 20-plus points

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Chloe Branch and Shami Goodman combined for 46 points and 18 rebounds as UWF cruised to a 72-51 win over Auburn-Montgomery at the UWF Field House Sunday afternoon.
 
Branch was nearly unstoppable, finishing 12-of-19 from the floor as she posted her second-consecutive double-double in as many games, recording career highs with 28 points and 16 rebounds. She had 14 and 10 in 16 second-half minutes alone.
 
Goodman was locked in from outside, making 18 points on six 3-pointers for the second-straight contest.
 
UWF (12-6, 7-4 Gulf South) shot 43 percent in the game and was especially efficient in the second quarter, making 9-of-14 for 64 percent. The Argonauts outscored the Warhawks 21-7 in the final 10 minutes before halftime as they built a 41-21 lead.
 
They were especially opportunistic on the offensive glass, turning 17 offensive rebounds into 14 second-chance points. UWF held a 46-26 rebounding edge overall.
 
Halee Nieman finished with 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks.
 
UWF is now 19-2 in their last 21 home games.
 
AUM (7-11, 3-8) shot just 36 percent and committed 17 turnovers. Makaylla Bullard came off the bench to lead the Warhawks with 15 points. Evelin Avleeva had 12 points, nine boards, three blocks and three steals.
 
UWF will hit the road this week, playing at North Alabama (16-2, 9-2) on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 6:00 p.m. and at Alabama Huntsville (11-7, 5-6) on two days later at 2:00 p.m.
