Donor Spotlight: Bill Healey

Bill has been an Argo for 47 years where he served as the Director of Recreation & Executive Director of Student Life, as well as Interim Athletic Director on a couple of occasions. He claims a well-earned spot in the Argonaut Hall of Fame and has donated in support of all UWF sports teams. Thank you Bill for your continued support of UWF Athletics. We appreciate you!

Why do I give to UWF Athletics? Sports have been an integral part of my entire life. My 47-year career at UWF as Director of Recreation & Executive Director of Student Life gave me a platform to serve and hopefully impacted our students and the entire University community. I was involved in helping create the Aquatic Center, Sports Complex, Rec Plex, expanding the Field House, and the HLS Facility.

Supporting Athletics both as an administrator and a booster is a source of pride. I serve on the Athletic Advisory Committee and was a part of the visioning committee that started Football. Nine of our Intercollegiate Athletic teams began as Recreation Sports clubs, some winning NCAA National Championships.

Why do you continue to give annually? Financial support is vital to the success of UWF Athletics. I encourage all to join in the adventure. You won't be disappointed.

What impact do you think your annual donations have on the UWF Athletic Department? Annual donations have a huge and direct impact on the success of our Athletics programs.  Our successful Athletic programs can result in a 10-million-dollar economic impact on the Pensacola community. It is a great domino effect to witness.

What makes you passionate about UWF Athletics? I thoroughly enjoy watching the competition, especially when it comes to championships -- Conference, Regional, and National (103 conference championships and 10 National Championships). I also admire the service our coaches and athletes give back to the community with events such as youth camps, girl scout days, and most recently, cleanup assistance after our recent hurricanes. Join me in becoming an Argonaut Athletic Club member. See you at the games, or this year, get a cut-out picture to go in the stands. My daughters and I will be there!
