Dr. Larry & Kaki Chambers have been supporting UWF Athletics since 2008. They are loyal fans and boosters who celebrate the student-athletes in the classroom as well as the playing field.
You will frequently find them in the stands cheering on their Argos towards victory. Thank you Dr. Larry & Kaki Chambers for continuing to help us 'Build Champions for Life.'
My wife, Kaki, and I are advocates of higher education and we contribute annually to our Alma maters (Kaki - LSU and me - University of Lynchburg (Va)). However, when it comes to athletics, both institutions are a bit too far for us to attend sporting events. Living 5 minutes off campus made it easy for us to start attending UWF games several years ago. One of the first things we realized about the Athletic Department was that the coaches and staff provided opportunities and support for the athletes to succeed, not just in their sport but the classroom as well. We could see that UWF took the concept of "student-athlete" seriously. We appreciated that.
We also realized the university's commitment to strengthening its various teams. We've been impressed by the increase in skill levels of the athletes and along with that, the increasing success of each sport, in the GSC and beyond. It's great to support a program that has at least one team (almost every year) competing for a national title. (Congratulations to our latest - Argo Football!!) We think Athletic Director,
Dave Scott and his staff have done an excellent job in hiring top-notch coaches for the various teams. Coaches that are not only interested in getting the best from their players on the court/field/pitch/pool, but who help them to succeed in the classroom, and as individuals in general. We are proud of our adopted University's Athletic Program and that's why we donate to UWF Athletics.
We did not intend for our support to be a "one and done" effort. Thus, we give annually in the hope that our small contribution will show our support to the athletes, while helping to fund scholarships, provide needed equipment, and offer travel opportunities. These are ongoing needs, therefore our financial support is ongoing.
We know the staff, coaches, and athletes appreciate the support of Argo fans, friends, alumni, and boosters. They tell us and show that often, and in various ways. We want our athletes to be as proud of playing for UWF as we boosters are proud of supporting them.
For the above reasons, plus the fact that attending games keeps our own competitive juices flowing, we indeed are passionate about UWF Athletics. #GoArgos!
