Argos face three top-ranked teams to open up the year at home tournament

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida volleyball team will kick off the 2012 season this weekend by playing host to the 2012 Hemingway's Island Grill Invitational. UWF will face Lock Haven and No. 5-ranked Central Missouri on Friday before facing No. 10-ranked Indianapolis and No. 2-ranked Tampa on Saturday. Both matches will feature live video and live stats at www.GoArgos.com.

2012 Volleyball Game Notes:
Hemingway's Island Grill Invitational

The Argonauts finished the 2011 season with their fourth consecutive GSC Championship after finishing the regular season undefeated in conference play (14-0).

UWF returns Gulf South Conference Player of the Year Lindsay Homme after leading the GSC in hitting percentage last season (.324) as a sophomore. The Argos also bring back sophomore Autumn Duyn, who was named to the 2011 AVCA Division II South Region First Team last season. Homme and Duyn were also selected to the 2012 GSC preseason all-conference team.

UWF was picked to finish first in the GSC in the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll. The Argos finished 2011 atop the GSC standings with the best conference record.
