Brett Berg | Assistant Athletic Director / Development
Brett Berg started as assistant athletic director for development on February 1, 2010, a dual-reporting position housed in Intercollegiate Athletics and the Office of Development. Berg had previously worked for UWF athletics as the department’s director of marketing and corporate relations.
Berg brings a varied background to the job, including experience in athletics and other areas. Berg most recently worked as director of marketing and public relations at the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center in Mobile, Ala. starting in 2006. Prior to that, Berg worked in Pensacola as the assistant director of development for the Baptist Health Care Foundation, as well as director of Baptist SportsCare. Berg has also taught as adjunct faculty at UWF since 2002 in the Department of Communications.
Berg graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Florida State in 1994 and received his master’s in Sports Administration from Clemson in 1997. He worked for several years in sports information, first while attending UWF from 1990-92 and again as a graduate assistant at Clemson from 1995-98.
Berg also worked as a stringer writing for the Pensacola News Journal for over 10 years. His athletics experience also includes a position as media manager for the Atlanta committee for the Olympic Games in 1996 and working with the Carolina Panthers and Florida State basketball team.
Brett is the son of retired UWF athletic director and recent UWF Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Richard Berg. He is married to Teresa, a UWF graduate, and they have two children, Hayden (4) and Charlotte (1).
