Baseball: Pat Cottrell

Pat Cottrell began his coaching career with the Argonauts as a graduate assistant in 2011.  Cottrell played at West Florida in 2003-04 before a five-year minor league career with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization.

Cottrell had two successful seasons as an Argonaut after transferring to UWF from Jefferson Davis Community College.  The third baseman hit .345 in his West Florida career and tallied 35 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 71 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.  In his senior season, he earned All-GSC and All-South Central Region honors.

Cottrell was a 33rd round pick by Tampa Bay in the 2004 MLB draft, and he played for the Rays organization through 2008.  The infielder advanced as high as Double A when he played for the Montgomery Biscuits in the Southern League.  In his minor league career, Cottrell hit .262 with 91 doubles, 11 triples, 32 home runs, 218 RBIs and 24 stolen bases.
