Chris Elkins joined the University of West Florida athletic communications staff in the fall of 2012 after graduating from UWF with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a specialization in Journalism.

Elkins joined the staff after spending a year at the UWF campus newspaper, The Voyager, as the sports editor from 2011-2012. Elkins also spent time as an intern at the Pensacola News Journal in the spring of 2012 covering local high school, college and community sports.

Prior to interning, he was a stringer for the PNJ covering high school football in the fall of 2011. Elkins began writing at The Voyager in the spring of 2011 as a staff writer covering UWF sports.

Elkins was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and earned his associate degree from Northwest Florida State College in May of 2008 before transferring to UWF. He is an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity chapter at UWF.
