Steve Saulnier was one of the original coaches in UWF Football program history. Coach Saulnier joined the Argos in 2014, bringing in over 25 years of coaching experience to the new program.

WEST FLORIDA - ASSISTANT HEAD COACH / OFFENSIVE LINE (2016-Present)

  • Coached 3 All-American, 7 All-Region and 14 All-Conference offensive linemen
  • OL Jacob Bruce was a 2nd Team AFCA All-American in 2023; 2nd Team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American; and honorable mention Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American in 2021 & 2022
  • OL Dalton Simpler was an Associated Press 1st Team All-American in 2022; 2nd Team D2CCA All-American in 2022; and D2Football.com Honorable Mention All-American in 2022
  • OL Mike Dilla was a 2nd Team Associated Press All-American in 2021; D2CCA 2nd Team All-American in 2021; D2Football.com Honorable Mention All-American in 2021; and Don Hansen Football Gazette 1st Team All-American in 2021
  • In 2024 - offense averaged 347.8 total yards of offense per game and 153.6 rush yards per game; the team scored 33.1 points per contest
  • In 2023 - the offense had three players with over 500 yards rushing as the team averaged 178.7 rush yards per game; the offense averaged 437.2 yards per game
  • In 2022 - the offense averaged 441.9 total yards of offense per game (#15 in nation) and 233.9 rushing yards per game (program record and #7 in nation); offensive line only allowed 14 sacks all season
  • In 2021- had the best offensive season in team history with 485.3 yards per game; the Argos averaged 7.7 yards per play; averaged 45.73 points per game
  • Helped guide the offensive unit to a program best 13-2 record in 2019 and the NCAA Division II National Title
  • The Argos defeated three number one seeds and four consecutive undefeated teams in the 2019 season

PLAYING CAREER
  • Played four seasons as an offensive lineman at NC State from 1980-1983 under then head coach Monte Kiffin.
  • Helped lead the Wolfpack to 16 wins and a third place finish in the ACC in 1982
 
PERSONAL
  • Graduated from NC State with a bachelor's degree in education
  • Earned a master’s degree in physical education from New Mexico in 1993
  • Steve and his wife Dianna have two children, Jacob and Hannah
