University of West Florida Athletics

The UWF Softball team proved to be unstoppable in their 1993 season.
This collective group of outstanding athletes provided the competitive force that pushed through the hardships as a team and won the National Championship title. Their “Cinderella Story” proves to be one of the most remembered among UWF Athletics as they competed through the loss of their head coach, Doug Palmer, to an emergency operation and relied on assistant coach, Tami Cyr for direction. West Florida also lost more than one of their starters, leaving them only ten players on the roster. They defied the odds and claimed the NAIA National Tournament title in an outstanding effort.
