Norquest Goes For a Career-High 27 in Loss at CBU

Danielle Norquest scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds


MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Despite getting a career-high 27 points from Danielle Norquest, the UWF women's basketball team fell to Christian Brothers, 66-54, at Canale Arena on Monday.
 
Norquest also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
 
UWF (2-4, 0-2 Gulf South) had its second-highest shooting game of the year but was outscored 32-14 in the paint.
 
CBU (2-2, 1-1) shot 46 percent and made 11 3-pointers. Lauren Taylor had 18 points – on 5-of-8 from outside – and 10 rebounds, while Brynne Lytle finished with 17.
 
UWF fell behind 14-6 early and fought back to get within 29-25 at the halftime break.
 
"Our team is like a lighter," UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton said. "We have glimmers of really good play but then the flame goes out. We just need consistent effort to keep the flame going."
 
The Argonauts used a 10-3 run to open the third quarter to grab a 35-32 lead. The Lady Bucs answered a few minutes later with a 12-0 run to regain the momentum just before the fourth.
 
UWF pulled to within two at the midway point of the fourth but couldn't finish the comeback, as the Lady Bucs scored the final 10 points in the contest.
 
UWF will return to action in 10 days when they open a 4-game homestand at the UWF Field House against Columbus State on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Noon.
