The UWF Field house is the home of UWF men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs. It was opened in 1971 with an original seating capacity of 4,500. Through renovations, the seating capacity was reduced to just over 1,000 in 2001 when chairback seats were installed on the north side of the arena and the bleachers on the south side were removed to allow for increase practice area.
In 1997 new scoreboards were installed at both ends of the court and a year later, in 1998, a new roof was put on. In 1999 a new Tartan floor surface was laid, in 2000 a new sound system was installed and in 2009 the floor received a new paint job. In 2010 the men's and women's lockers rooms underwent complete renovation with new lockers and amenities.
New LED lighting was installed in December of 2014 and new scoreboards and a LED video scorer's tables were installed prior to the 2017 season. New renovations took place in 2023, which included the installation of chairback seating on the east side, HD LED video boards on each end of the court with a control room for video and production capabilities, as well as improved locker rooms and office spaces. In 2025, the field house underwent a branding project to modernize the venue with new athletics visuals that included lit signs on the walls behind each hoop.Â
The facility also houses the athletic department's administrative units and coaches offices. The main entrance lobby is a show piece that highlights the championship history of Argonaut athletics. The Field House also holds one of two athletics weight rooms and athletic training rooms.
The UWF Field House served as the host venue for volleyball during the inaugural NCAA Division II Fall Festival in 2006, and hosted the 2012 & 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships. The Field House also served host for the 2021 NCAA DII Women's Volleyball South Regional Championship, along with numerous basketball and volleyball camps and tournaments.
