PENSACOLA, Fla. – The 10th-ranked University of West Florida swimming and diving team will take the trip to Cleveland, Mississippi, on Saturday for a meet against No. 16 Delta State and NCAA Division III No. 2 Emory at the Delta State Aquatics Center.
The Argonauts most recently won the Fazoli's Invitational over No. 9 Northern Michigan, Brenau and Ouachita Baptist on January 5 at the UWF Aquatic Center, getting big days from freshman
Morgan Ayers, who had two individual wins and helped UWF to a relay victory,
Madeline Pitt, who won the 100 Fly and was on two top-two relay teams, and West Florida's four divers.
West Florida won six of the nine events at the Fazoli's Invitational in all, which included both diving events, when UWF took the top four spots in each. Overall, West Florida is 7-2 in dual meets and has taken two first-place and a second-place finish in invitational meets this season.
Delta State was most recently ranked No. 16 in the CSCAA poll and finished second at the DSU Christmas Invite behind fellow New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference member Lindenwood. Caroline Jouisse (1,650 Free) and Lucia Martelli (200 Fly) had individual wins at the meet, and Martelli's time was the third-fastest 200 Fly in school history.
Emory won 10 of 11 events at a dual meet against Florida Southern on January 12, taking a 140-65 victory. A trio of Eagles took two individual wins at the meet, as Cindy Cheng won the 200 Free and 200 Back, Ming Ong won the 200 IM and the 500 Free, and Rebecca Upton won the 1,000 Free and the 200 Fly.
The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start in Cleveland, Mississippi.
