PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Argos will begin their season by hosting a triple-dual meet on Friday night against South Georgia College, Thomas University, and Loyola New Orleans at 5 p.m. in the UWF Aquatic Center. West Florida will look to build on the success they had this past year finishing third in the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference and 28th at the NCAA DII National Championships.
The UWF Divers will feature three returners from last year's squad. The three returners are
Carson Bronnenberg,
Jesstina Farrell and Daniela Reyes. They will also welcome two new freshman divers this year,
Kelsey DeJesus and Emilie Hunter.
Broonenberg and Farrell each competed at the NCAA Championships last year. Bronnenberg came in 39th in the 1m by posting a score of 186.20, and she finished 32nd with a final score of 213.30 in the 3m. Farrell led the Argos in the 1m event placing 30th with a total score of 199.90. She placed 35th in the 3m diving event on Tuesday, with a final score of 208.25. Farrell also finished in first place in the 1m event at the NSISC Championships last season.
West Florida will be returning four of the six swimmers they took to the National Championships last year. The four returners leading the charge of the Argos this season are
Caitlin Tierney,
Ester Rizzetto,
Manon Milczynski and
Hannah O'Toole.
Tierney was a member of the honorable mention All-American 200 freestyle relay team at the NCAA Championships and was a five-time finalist at the NSISC Championships, with her finishing first in the 200 Free Relay (1:33.26).
Rizzetto competed at the NCAA Championships and earned CSCAA All-America First Team in the 50 Free (23.30) and three CSCAA All-America Honorable Mentions in the 100 Fly (55.08), 100 Free (51.29), and the 200 Free Relay (1:35.05).
Miczynski set personal bests in the 100 Breast (1:04.95), 200 IM (2:09.96), and 400 IM (4:39.03) at the NSISC Championships and the 200 Breast (2:19.51) at the Panther Invitational.
O'Toole placed fifth in the 200 Fly (2:06.61), seventh in both the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.82) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:24.13) at the NSISC Championships.
