LIVINGSTON, Ala.- For the second straight match, the third ranked UWF Men's Tennis Team was able to sneak by an opponent 4-3 on the road, this time as they edged out #16 West Alabama, Friday afternoon at the Vaughn Tennis Complex.
The win moves the Argos to 2-1 and 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference while the Tigers drop to 3-2 and 0-1 in conference play.
To start off the day, the Argonauts had a little bit of trouble as they were only able to secure one doubles match with
Nicolas Lecoutre and junior
Gabriel Nery winning in dominant 6-0 fashion.
The tide turned for the blue and white as they were able to get key victories in singles matches from returners Serdar Bojadiev and
Pedro Cordeiro while newcomer
Adam Svensson came up big in the #5 spot with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Nationally ranked and top 10 region player,
Juan Cabrera, sealed the team win for UWF. The senior from Buenos Aires, Argentina, had to go to an all-important third set but was able to hold off his opponent by a score of 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
The men will turn right around and continue their trip in Alabama with a match against Montevallo tomorrow morning at 9 am.
