HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-The third ranked UWF men's tennis team capped an undefeated weekend with a win at Alabama Huntsville, besting the Chargers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, the Argonauts move to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Gulf South Conference while UAH drops 0-2 and 0-1 in the conference.
UWF Head Coach knew just how big going 3-0 on the weekend was for the boys. "This was a great weekend for us to play a lot of very tough GSC conference matches on the road", said Racine. "All these teams are very good and we were lucky to scrape out the wins and the guys showed a lot of heart to pull some through tough matches."
Early on in the match, it seemed as if the Argos would cruise through the day as all three doubles pairings for UWF won, starting off the day in the right direction.
However, the Argonauts would find a bit of trouble in the singles portion of the day as they faltered in the #3 and #6 spots.
Fortunately, senior
Serdar Bojadiev lead the charge for West Florida which included his 6-7, 6-2, 7-5 victory, en route to them winning four other matches including Adam
Svensson's 6-1, 6-0 win, to wrap up the day for the Argonauts.
The men will get a few days of rest before heading to Rollins for a match on Friday. The match between the Argonauts and Tars begins at 2pm.
