The University of West Florida swimming and diving team finished off the weekend with a strong performance over Delta State to bring back home another first-place finish.
Ester Rizzetto led the Argos with three first place finishes in the 100 freestyle (50.99), 200 freestyle 1:53.73) and 500 freestyle (5:10.42). Senior
Yael Danieli brought back home two first place finishes in the 200 backstroke (2:10.59) and 1650 freestyle (17:45.36).
In the 50 freestyle
Abigail Williamson (24.83),
Stefanie Markwardt (24.99),
Aimee Patterson (25.13) and Brooke Door (25.19) finished second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively. The Argos also had second through fifth place finishes in the 100 breaststroke from
Morgan Ayers (1:06.38), Lisa Cottage Ramnick (1:06.84),
Brooke Simila (1:10.47) and
Kathryn Mipro (1:10.82).
In the 200 medley relay Ayers, Markwardt, Rizzetto and
Aubrey Miller the Argos placed second with a time of 1:46.87.
Anna Jaworski, Brooke Door,
Olivia Hadaway and Mipro finished in third with a time of 1:50.47.
The divers had a strong first performance of the season having top five finishes in both events. Sophomore
Kelsey DeJesus placed first in both the 1M and 3M.
Daniela Reyes,
Emilie Hunter and
Jesstina Farrell finished in second, fourth and fifth place in the 1M. Reyes, Hunter and Michelle Meija finished in third, fourth and fifth place in the 3M.
The Argos will head to Birmingham, Alabama January 22 to face Birmingham Southern and Sewanne College, followed by Berry College and Birmingham Southern on the 23.
