The University of West Florida swimming and diving team defeated Millsaps College and Birmingham Southern Friday evening to open up the weekend of competition. The Argos posted competitive times in the pool and high scores on the board.

Daniela Reyes led the divers and finished first in the 6-Â and 11-dive 1M with a score of 270.82 and 464.55 respectively.
Jesstina Farrell placed second in both events with 269.93 points in the 6 dive and 445.95 in the 11 dive event.
Kelsey DeJesus placed third in the six dive 1M with a score of 266.55 and
Michelle Mejia placed third in the 11 dive 1M with a score of 415.57. All four divers qualified for the national preliminary.Â
In the pool the Argos started off the meet strong with a first-place finish in the 200 Medley relay. The first-place team consisted of
Aubrey Miller,
Morgan Ayers,
Olivia Hadaway and
Ester Rizzetto with a time of 1:46.74. Not far behind was
Madeline Campbell,
Brooke Dorr,
Stefanie Markwardt and
Abigail Williamson who finished in second place.

Throughout the meet the Argos had multiple first place and top three finishes coming from a number of swimmers.

Lauren Jonsson finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:46.69, followed by
Ardinn Grabenhorst in second with a time of 10:51.15. In the 200 butterfly
Katelyn Balent (2:08.31) placed first, followed by Dorr (2:16.38) in second. Williamson finished first in the 100 freestyle (54.21).

Rizzetto, Markwardt, Ayers and
Yael Danieli continue to improve on the season, all with first places finishes. Rizzetto placed first in the 100 backstroke (58.11) and 200 IM (2:06.05). Markwardt finished first in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.33) and 100 butterfly (58.28). Ayers brought home a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.70) and Danieli finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.55.

To end the meet West Florida finished in first and second place in the 400 Freestyle relay. The first place relay team included
Lisa Cottage-Ramnick,
Kathryn Mipro, Williamson and Rizzetto. The second place team included Hadaway, Miller, Dorr and
Aimee Patterson.

The Argos will face Birmingham Southern and Millsaps college again on Saturday, January 23 with the addition of Berry College. The meet will begin at 10 am CST.
