Swim & dive improves to 8-0 on the season

In the second day of competition in Birmingham the swimming and diving team improved their record to 8-0 after defeating Millsaps College, Birmingham Southern and Berry College.The Argos continue to have top performances in multiple events.
 
In the 200 freestyle Caitlin Chandler finished in first place with a time of 1:59.10, followed by Ardinn Grabenhorst in second with a time of 1:59.59. Kathryn Mipro and Lauren Jonsson finished in fourth and fifth place respectively in the 200.
 
Two Argos finished in the top three for the 100 backstroke. Anna Jaworski (1:00.29) placed first and Lacey Radloff (1:01.96) placed third.
 
Ester Rizzetto (1:06.16), Lisa Cottage-Ramnick (1:08.00) and Brooke Dorr (1:10.52) took the top three spots in the 100 backstroke. The Argos had another top three performance in the 50 freestyle. Abigail Williamson (24.88), Caitlin Chandler (25.14) and Madeline Campbell (26.07) finished in first, second and third place.
 
Olivia Hadaway finished first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:09.79. Yael Danieli had a first place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:48.08.
 
 In the 200 breaststroke Morgan Ayers and Lisa Cottage-Ramnick placed first and second. While in the 500 freestyle Mipro (5:22.29) and Jaworkski (5:23.48) placed first and second.

The Argos finished first in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. The winning 400 medley relay consisted of Ayers, Rizzetto, Aubrey Miller and Stefanie Markwardt. The first place 200 freestyle relay included Williamson, Markwardt, Miller and Rizzetto.
 
The divers also had strong second day performance. Jesstina Farrell had qualifying scores for the national preliminary in the 1M (255.15) and 3M (270.53). Daniela Reyes had qualifying scores for the national preliminary in the 1M (280.13).
 
In the 3M the Argos finished in the top five. Farrell, Emilie Hunter, Reyes, Michelle Mejia and Mailie Sweeney finish in first through fifth respectively. In the 1M Reyes, Farrell, Hunter and Sweeney finished in the top four spots.

The West Florida swimming and diving team will finish out the regular season next weekend against Tulane. The Argos will compete Saturday, January 30 at 1 pm CST.
